The Alpi Group, in partnership with
TFT (
Tropical Forest Trust), has set in motion a
continuous improvement project – following
internationally recognised criteria – for the achievement of specific levels of
excellence in forest management in Cameroon. This is an important initiative, both for the size of the area concerned (over 265,000 hectares) and for the originality of the commitment
to keep the public continuously informed about each step on the road to improvement.
The aim is to consolidate and enhance the approach the group has adopted ever since the beginning of its activities in Africa, namely to promote
sustainable economic development compatible with:
- The long-term stability of the tropical forest’s ecosystem
- Improvements in the social conditions of the communities involved
- Reliably programmed availability of the raw material
- Rational use of timber resources
